What is Po' Papa Joe?

For years I've been know to our seven children, and now to our eight grandchildren, as "Papa Joe".  Until recently I've also been an executive for the world's largest technology company making a good income that provided our family with all our needs and most of our wants.  Recently, however, the company offered us, and we accepted, an early retirement package.  We were surprised to learn that we had saved enough over the years to provide for our needs the rest of our lives (I expect to live another 40 years).  However because of my relative youth (just turned 54) we have to wait a year to begin collecting those retirement income streams.  In order to preserve our savings my wife gave me a challenge--make what we used to spend in a day last a week.  I love a good challenge and since I have a lot more time on my hands to make things from scratch I decided to make it fun to be poor, so now I'm "Po' Papa Joe".
This blog is where I'll share what I'm learning about how to:
  • Spend less
  • Live better
  • Be healthier
  • Have more fun
  • Be  happier
One of my innate characteristics is curiosity.  For instance, I want to know how things are made and then I want to make them myself.  I hope you'll find something in my lessons learned that can be useful to you on your journey toward a successful life.
Until next time...bye for now!
